Pregnancy Testing

What is pregnancy testing? When should you try pregnancy testing? What are the most accurate pregnancy testing methods? All of these questions run through your mind when you first suspect you are pregnant. A wave of emotions can some over you as you are trying to process the idea about the possibility of adding another person into your life. Excitement, fear, happiness, and anxiety can all hit you at the same time. But there are a few things you can do to ensure you get the most accurate readings from pregnancy testing to find out if you are pregnant.

Pregnancy testing is a test done to see if you are, in fact, pregnant. There are a few different ways you can do this. The first is to go to your local grocery store, or even the dollar store, and buy a home pregnancy testing kit. These can be fairly accurate and safe to use. Another way is to make an appointment with the doctor and have a blood test done. The doctor should be able to give you results in a day or two over the phone. Another accurate way is to let the doctor test your urine. It is performed the same way as a home pregnancy testing kit, and can detect the pregnancy hormone slightly better than the home pregnancy testing kit.

Depending on which method you use, you can do pregnancy testing from one week to one month after conception. The blood test is very accurate and can be done as early as a week or two after conception. You do not need to have missed a period to get accurate results from the blood test. If going to the doctor for a urine test, it may be better to wait a week or two to ensure a more accurate reading of the pregnancy testing.

If you are going to use an at-home kit, pregnancy testing can be done as early as 10 days before your scheduled period. However, it is better to wait until you have missed your period. Also, if you use an at-home pregnancy testing kit, be sure to test yourself when you first wake up in the morning. This is because HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotrppin) levels are stronger if you haven’t urinated for a while.

Because home pregnancy testing has become more accurate, this seems a most popular choice among women. However, there is a little information you should be aware of when using a home pregnancy testing kit. Home pregnancy testing that results in a positive test (meaning that you are pregnant), is 100 percent accurate. Home pregnancy testing that result in a negative reading is most often correct. Some women, however, do not produce enough HCG in the first few months. Therefore, pregnancy testing is not always correct when getting a negative reading. If you have done the home pregnancy testing and you still have all of the other symptoms of being pregnant, make sure you see your healthcare provider to perform a blood test. Also, if you get a positive reading on the pregnancy testing, make an appointment with your doctor right away to ensure proper medical care.
